چکیده

The least-mean-square (LMS) adaptive filter is applied to suppress narrow-band radiofrequency interference (R.FI) in wideband synthetic aperture radar (SAR.) signals. Simulation is used to show the working principles of the adaptive filter and to obtain the optimum filter's parameters. The algorithm is tested with P-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR.) data collected by the NASA/JPL airborne SAR. (AIRSAR.) in different noisy environments.

Adaptive Transient and CW RF Interference Mitigation in HF OTH Radar: Experimental Results

We introduce an adaptive technique for the joint mitigation of transients and continuous-wave radio-frequency co-channel interference (CW RFI) in high-frequency (HF) over-the-horizon radars (OTHRs). The performance of this technique is illustrated using data from an operational surface-wave radar (SECAR) and from recent experimental trials with sky-wave (SW) and sky-wave–line-of-sight (SKYLOS) ...

A Survey of 1200-1800 MHz using a Discone and a Spiral with the Argus Front End

This document reports on a survey of radio frequency interference (RFI) in the band 1200-1800 MHz. The survey was conducted during business hours from the roof of the Ohio State University ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL), using two antennas. One antenna was a commercially available wideband discone antenna, which is weakly directive along the horizon, and has directivity ¿ 1 toward the sky. The...

A Novel Monopulse Angle Estimation Method for Wideband LFM Radars

Traditional monopulse angle estimations are mainly based on phase comparison and amplitude comparison methods, which are commonly adopted in narrowband radars. In modern radar systems, wideband radars are becoming more and more important, while the angle estimation for wideband signals is little studied in previous works. As noise in wideband radars has larger bandwidth than narrowband radars, ...

Examination of a simple pulse blanking technique for RFI mitigation

Spectroscopy at L-band can be adversely impacted by radio frequency interference (RFI) due to the presence of numerous sources, especially pulsed RFI from radars operating below 1400 MHz. RFI mitigation is very important to deal with this problem. A simple strategy for reducing pulsed RFI termed “asynchronous pulse blanking” has been implemented in a digital receiver developed at The Ohio State...

The Effect of Notch Filter on RFI Suppression

Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) suppression is an important technique in the ultra-wideband synthetic aperture radar (UWB SAR). In this paper, we mainly analyze the performance of a notch filter for RFI suppression. The theoretical output from notch filter is presented based on RFI signal’s narrowband property. The research conclusion shows that the notch filter has significant effect on sid...
